Electric London

It’s been a crazy few months, but we are almost ready to unveil our new flagship salon Electric London! All of the hard work is coming to fruition and I’m so excited to see all of the new faces at the salon from stylists to clients who will be visiting us at our new Marylebone venue. The shop fitters have done an amazing job and I’m looking forward to seeing you all in early January! We’re even bringing the Electric Retreat along with us to London so that the new clientele can enjoy a break from the hustle and bustle and join us for a tranquil treatment or two for some relaxation and pampering at what will be London’s hottest salon for the New Year!

A busy week @ Electric

I’ve been rushed off my feet this week in the salon making sure all of our lovely clients are looking gorgeous for the party season. We’ve been working on a lot of up-dos and bringing editorial looks that we’ve been creating for shoots back into the salon for that perfect party season finish. It’s great to be so hands on and helping all of these guys and girls get prepped and ready for the festive period. We even had the showbiz editor of The Daily Express in who’ll be showing off her Electric Look at all of the fab events she’s attending over the next couple of weeks!

The Fellowship Council

I’ve also been being kept on my toes with the Fellowship Council meeting held at the Goldwell Academy, always a top venue for industry meetings and a lovely excuse to meet up with other members to talk about what’s been going on within the industry. The State Registration is a hot topic at the moment and I’m urging all hairdressers to sign up. It’s a great cause and will hopefully help to prevent those recent stories in the press about chemical reactions giving us a bad name for the future! The State Registration is a small price pay ensuring that all hairdressers are officially licensed and we can get the Hairdressers Registration passed to make sure that only those with an NVQ are able to colour and cut hair legally – hey you even get a free issue of the exclusive ‘Hairdresser’ magazine. Go online and sign up at http://www.haircouncil.org.uk/pages/apply.html

The Clothes Show Live!

Up at 5am to head up to the NEC, Birmingham for the Clothes Show Live. I had the 9am slot booked for the Stop and Chop area with Your Hair Magazine and couldn’t wait to make-over the shoppers with our latest Electric trends ready for the New Year. I randomly selected a couple of willing models and created my fav Electric Textured Crops, which they just loved along with the audience. I was then whisked away to the Health & Beauty Stage where this time I decided to select a viewer from crowd and talk through the perfect party hair up style. There was a great buzz and energy during the event and I was joined by fellow celebrity hairdressers throughout the week such as Desmond Murray, Tara Smith, Tim Hartley and Charlie Le Mindu, who I hear was even shaving heads! The idea of the Stop & Chop stand was to transform the shoppers and give them the treat in having an award winning stylists revamping their look and it went down an absolute storm. But I have to say that the highlight of the day was getting home to watch my son’s school Nativity play, well done kids - it was a great show!

The Fellowship Lunch

The Fellowship luncheon is always one of my most rated calendar events of the year and boy this time the organisers did not disappoint. The day was even celebrated with a hilarious VT from the brilliant Vice President, Terry Calvert who sadly couldn’t be there to join us for The Dorchester’s finest – but certainly made his mark! Again to all the winners, a big congratulations and I just have to mention Sean Dawson, HOB who won the Fellowship Fashion Focus Image of the Year Award, his shot was just stunning. We all headed over to top Hawaiian nightspot Mahiki after the event where the Electric team were to be found sharing a tropical Treasure Chest in true Tiki style, we’ll definitely be heading back there again soon for another. Thanks to everyone who made the night a great success, and I hope to see you back there next year

Electric Sessions @ No.5

Without a doubt our best Electric Sessions to date! The entire team headed down to the stunning No.5 Cavendish Square in London – it really was the perfect venue to host our Sessions. The morning session included a talk from myself to inspire the team and thank them for all of their great work over the year, followed by a business talk from Julie Eldrett a top industry consultant who has vast experience and knowledge to ensure our clients are continually treated to the best service possible. After a few words from Alan Short, manager of our Reading Salon, on client liaison and how we can all work together to improve the customer experience the Art Team then kicked off the afternoon session by demonstrating their trends on stage for 2010 building up a great momentum for the coming year. The Electric Sessions are also a time to recongise my amazing team with the Electric Awards so massive congrats to all the winners and of course to the whole team for such a fantastic job this year - I’m so proud of the outstanding standard of work that has been produced both in salon and creatively, thanks so much guys and keep up the great work. Me and the Art Team then closed the Electric Sessions with the most stunning catwalk show ever - themed around ‘Vampires’, before moving downstairs to relax and unwind over a few festive drinks. Join us again for our 2010 Sessions which will also include our new London salon team, oh and look out for our next venture, Electric Coffee…
